Hearst Ventures is the strategic investment arm of Hearst, one of the worlds largest diversified media, information and services companies.
Since 1995, the Hearst Ventures team has invested globally over $1 billion in companies such as Broadcast.com, BuzzFeed, GeoPhy, HootSuite, LingoChamp (Liulishuo), Netscape, Otonomo, Pandora, Roku, Via and XM Satellite Radio.
Hearst investments were initially U.S.-focused and mostly at the intersection of media and technology. However today its global team, with partners based in New York, London, Tel Aviv and Beijing, invests in early-stage category leaders across a range of verticals including business intelligence (AI) tools, e-commerce, service marketplaces, transportation/mobility, enterprise software, supply chain/logistics, insurance tech, real-estate tech and legal tech.
Hearst Ventures invest, on average, between $2 and $10 million in roughly 1012 new companies each year. The firm typically invest across series A through C, and deploy a global fund strategy to find best-of-breed businesses across all their areas of interest.
Hearst Ventures is first and foremost a financially-driven investment arm. Hearst Ventures focus its investments on areas that are strategic or may become strategic for Hearst in the future.
