CarboFix Orthopedics develops, manufactures, and markets solutions for the repair of long bone fractures. The company develops products designed to enhance quality of life for patients while also being more user-friendly for surgeons.
CarboFixs Piccolo nails and plates are made of continuous carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer. The continuous carbon fibers are woven in a unidirectional orientation at the core of the nail, which is wrapped by additional helical fibers.
Piccolo plates are made out of continuous carbon fibers in a longitudinal as well as a diagonal orientation. The material makes the Piccolo nails and plates radiolucent, which is beneficial during both surgery and follow-up.
The CarboClear Pedicle Screw System is made of continuous carbon fibers and reinforced polymer. It features a polyaxial screw design with 15 trajectory variation and an ultra-thin titanium shell bone/screw interface for better bone integration. It was cleared for use in the United States by the FDA in July 2018.
